Hey, I’m Kenzi DeFaria, LICSW

I’m an OCD and anxiety psychotherapist who knows exactly what it’s like to get stuck in “what if” spirals, second-guess every decision, or feel like your brain is a little too good at worst-case scenarios.

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, specializing in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT), two gold-standard treatments for OCD. I also work with a lot of clients who are neurodivergent- many of whom have been through therapy before and left thinking: “Why did that not help?”

If that’s you, I get it. And I’m so glad you’re here.

Why I Do This Work

I started Golden Hour Therapy because I wanted to create the kind of therapy space I wish more people had access to: one that’s specialized, compassionate, and actually makes sense for OCD and neurodivergent brains.

I’ve dealt with anxiety my whole life. I was diagnosed with ADHD at 27, and I know how easy it is to fall into overthinking, excessive reassurance-seeking, and perfectionism. I also have family members with OCD, so I’ve seen firsthand how misunderstood it can be—and how hard it is to find the right help.

Therapy for OCD isn’t just “talk it out.” It’s skill-building. It’s brain-training. It’s showing up as you are—even if “as you are” is currently spiraling—and learning how to find your way through it. That’s what I’m here for.

My Clients Say…

Clients tell me that therapy with me feels different. They don’t have to fake it or censor themselves. They don’t have to explain every meme or trend or say, “Sorry, this is weird…” before they tell me the thought that’s been tormenting them for days.

They tell me they feel understood, even when their OCD is loud and confusing. That they feel like they’re talking to someone who gets it—and who isn’t going to flinch, judge, or make them feel broken.

That’s the goal.

What It’s Like to Work With Me….

I bring a mix of structure, strategy, humor, and realness into every session. I won’t ask you to do anything I wouldn’t do myself. I’ll meet you where you’re at, and we’ll move at a pace that feels challenging but safe.

  • Want a structured game plan for OCD exposures? I’ve got you.

  • Need help untangling a scary thought? Let’s investigate it together.

  • Having a day where your brain is soup and you just need a safe place to exist? Pull up a chair.

Every session is different because every brain is different. We’ll find what works for you.
